Types of CTAs HubSpot

Why are CTAs important?

CTAs are important because they help guide website visitors towards taking a specific action. Without a clear and compelling CTA, visitors may leave a website without ever converting it into a lead or customer. CTAs can be used to encourage visitors to take a variety of actions, including downloading content, registering for an event, or contacting a sales representative.

HubSpot CTA Strategies

Now that you know what HubSpot CTAs are and how to create them, let's take a look at how you can use them to generate leads and conversions.

Generating leads with HubSpot CTAs

One of the most common ways to use HubSpot CTAs is to generate leads. To do this, you'll need to create a CTA that promotes a lead generation offer, like a free e-book or webinar. You can then add the CTA to your website or blog posts and link it to a landing page where visitors can enter their contact information in exchange for the offer.

Directing traffic with HubSpot CTAs

Another common use for HubSpot CTAs is to direct traffic to key pages on your website, like your pricing page or product pages. To do this, you'll need to create a CTA that links to the desired page on your website. You can then add the CTA to your website or blog posts.

Encouraging newsletter signups with HubSpot CTAs

Another way to use HubSpot CTAs is to encourage visitors to sign up for your newsletter. To do this, you'll need to create a CTA that promotes your newsletter and links to a signup form. You can then add the CTA to your website or blog posts.

Promoting downloads with HubSpot CTAs

You can also use HubSpot CTAs to promote downloads, like e-books, white papers, and templates. To do this, you'll need to create a CTA that promotes the download and links to the download page on your website. You can then add the CTA to your website or blog posts.

By following these tips, you can create CTAs that are clear, concise, and effective. HubSpot offers a variety of tools that can help you create and track your CTAs.

1. Keep it Simple

The first step in creating an effective CTA is to keep it simple. Keep your CTAs short and to the point. Your CTA should be easy to understand and should not require a lot of thought to interpret. The easier it is for your audience to understand your CTA, the more likely they are to take action.

2. Make your CTA actionable

Your CTA should tell your audience exactly what you want them to do. It should be clear, concise, and easy to understand. For example, if you want your audience to sign up for your email list, your CTA should say something like “Sign up for our email list.”

3. Use strong verbs

When creating your CTA, be sure to use strong verbs that convey a sense of urgency. Words like “sign up”, “download”, and “subscribe” are all strong verbs that will compel your audience to take action.

4. Make it Timely

Your CTA should be timely and relevant to your current marketing campaign. For example, if you are running a Black Friday sale, your CTA should reflect that sale. If you are promoting a new product, your CTA should reflect that product. By making your CTA timely and relevant, you will ensure that your audience takes notice.

5. Use Active Language

Your CTA should use active language that compels your audience to take action. Use strong verbs that indicate what you want your audience to do, such as “buy,” “download,” or “sign up.”, download," "subscribe," or "purchase" to encourage your audience to take the desired action. Avoid using words such as "click here" as they are not as effective in getting results.  Use the first-person singular pronouns

6. Offer Incentives

Offering incentives is a great way to increase the likelihood of getting results from your CTAs. For example, you could offer a discount for those who subscribe to your email list or enter their information into a contest/giveaway. By offering an incentive, you are more likely to persuade your audience to act.

People are more likely to take action if they are offered an incentive. When creating your CTA, be sure to offer your audience something of value in exchange for taking the desired action. For example, you could offer a discount on your products or services or access to exclusive content.

7. Use persuasive language

Use persuasive language that compels your audience to take action. Your CTA should be written in persuasive language that compels your audience to take action. Be sure to avoid using vague language or making promises that you cannot keep. Use an active voice to give a sense of urgency

8. Make them visually appealing

Your CTA should be visually appealing and easy to spot. Be sure to use colours, fonts, and other design elements that will make your CTA stand out. Use contrasting colours. Make your CTA visible and easy to find. Keep it above the fold

10 Personalise CTAs for each visitor to increase results

Tailor your CTAs for individual visitors, to provide a personalised experience.

Personalise CTAs using any detail in your HubSpot contacts database, like persona, industry, lifecycle stage, and more, so you’re dynamically displaying the most relevant and effective CTAs to move leads further down the funnel.

11. Test and Measure

It is important to test and measure the effectiveness of your CTAs in order to determine what works and what doesn't work for your business. Try different CTAs and see which ones generate the most responses from your audience. Be sure to track conversions so that you can accurately measure the success of each CTA.

Set up A/B tests to create two or more variations of each CTA, and test any variable from copy and design to destination links to identify the version of your CTA that outperforms the rest.

Creating effective CTAs is an ongoing process, and it's important to test and optimise the CTA to improve its performance over time. HubSpot allows users to A/B test CTAs to see which version performs better. Try testing different colours, text, and placement to see which version drives the most clicks and conversions.

HubSpot's CTA Reporting Tool can help you test and measure different CTAs to see which ones are most effective with your audience.

12. Reporting

HubSpot's CTA report measures the performance of your CTAs so you can improve their effectiveness. Use HubSpot CTA's reporting data to test and improve your website. The CTA report shows you how many times each CTA has been clicked, as well as the conversion rate for each CTA. It also includes data on which pages each CTA is being displayed on, so you can see which pages are driving the most conversions.

13. Keep it clear and concise

The most effective CTAs are clear and concise. The text on the CTA should be simple and easy to understand, and the action that the user will take should be clear. Avoid using jargon or overly technical language, as this can be confusing for users.

14. Use contrasting colours

The colour of the CTA is important because it can help the button stand out on the page. Using a contrasting colour can help the CTA to be more visible and draw the user's attention. HubSpot offers a range of colour options for CTAs, so choose a colour that stands out from the background and other elements on the page.

15. Make it visually appealing

In addition to using a contrasting colour, it's important to make the CTA visually appealing. HubSpot offers a range of CTA templates that can be customised to fit the brand's style and design. The CTA should be visually appealing and fit with the overall design of the page.

16. Use action-oriented language

The language on the CTA should be action-oriented and encourage the user to take a specific action. Use verbs that clearly describe what the user will do when they click the button, such as "Download", "Register", or "Get Started". Avoid using generic text like "Submit" or "Click Here", as these do not provide clear direction to the user.
